SOELLNER’S DISPATCH #1

(For your eyes only!)

As many of you know, I am writing a five book historic fiction series about three generations of two German families during the first half of the twentieth century. To keep avid readers informed of this ongoing saga, my progress in creating it, and to give you some of the back story and other little known tidbits, I am sending out my “Dispatches”.

The Levi estate in Bavaria, “Kalvarianhof”, is the setting for much of the Levi and Markus adventures. It is the fictional name for the real Soellner estate in the forests outside of Munich. I created the name from “Calvary”, the site where Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem, and “hof”, a German word that can mean, building, house or home.

These communications, “Soellner’s Dispatch”, are named after the method of military communication.

Here is a historic quiz question:

What two countries tried to buy Baja California from the Mexican Government around the turn of the 19th century and add it to their colonial empires?

For the answer, see dispatch #2 coming soon! If you think you know without Googling, or just want to know right away, email me.  I will list all those who guessed correctly in Dispatch #2.

Until my next Dispatch,

Walter Soellner
